Helping Hand has rendered enormous services in various areas of social development and its Orphan Support Program is one of many such programs. The Orphan Support Program (OSP) of Helping Hand helps in identifying the families in needy situations. It focuses on assisting children who have lost their parents or/and guardians and enables them to fit into the society morally, spiritually and mentally. The children are taken to schools while the older ones are taken to vocational training institutes, thus making them into productive members of the society. To this effect, in the various districts of Jammu & Kashmir and North West Province of Pakistan, more than 1000 children, deprived of their parents, are being supported through the local partners of Helping Hand. Similarly over 2500 orphan children are under the sponsorship of HH in Pakistan. These children are being provided with stipends, sufficient enough to bear the expenses of their education and their basic amenities of life.

Success Stories
A young girl RABIA, 23 years visited our clinic on 2nd July 2007. I was told by her relatives that she is suffering from PULMONARY TUBERCULOSIS. An extremely weak, deadly pale, lethargic girl presented with history of weight loss, dry cough for two months. On examining patient, I figured out she was suffering from Superadded Respiratory tract Infection. Broad Spectrum Antibiotics were given; simultaneously she was advised to undergo few screening tests to exclude pulmonary kock’s. On her next follow up visit, she responded remarkably well and test reports for tuberculosis were negative. That was very cheerful moment for her family as their predictions were proved wrong. Again, she was treated on same lines along with hematanics and multivitamins to raise her Hb level.
Analysis and Family Response
On first visit her parents were very nervous as their daughter’s condition was getting worse and worse day by day. Moreover, they were misguided and apprehended of
PULMONARY KOCK’s fear. They had no resources to acquire medical aid; they had a sigh of relief when they saw that situation is being tactfully handled. Patient improved drastically, all her symptoms subsided and she came out of her miserable phase. COUNSELLING SESSIONS were done in which her morals was boasted and she was brought out of her depressive phase. Her relatives were strictly advised not to believe on layman stories. Her family was very thankful to see Rabia Happy and back to her lifeagain. Hence, not only adequate treatment is required but proper DIAGNOSIS at the proper time can give patient a new life with new hopes.

Provides previously unavailable eye care services at vital time of kids education and development
The camp was held through the Khyber Eye Foundation, a local partner of The Foundation working in Pakistan – with funds also contributed by AusAID through the Pakistan-Australia Sub-speciality Eye Care (PASEC) project.

“AGHOSH” The future for Orphan children in Pakistan
Could you imagine life without a safe and secure roof over your head? Put yourself in the position of the millions of orphans around the world and you will appreciate the work of Minhaj Welfare Foundation (MWF).
Orphans are no different to any other child; we here at MWF believe the Orphans should have the best start in life to help them become ambassadors of their country. We hope to setup a network of Orphan Care Homes in marginalised areas and also increase capacity at existing ones.
MWF initiated “AGHOSH”, a pilot project for 50 orphaned children that were affected by the Earthquake in 2005. Within our Orphan care home, we provide financial aid, a family orientated environment, excellent education, medical checkups, clothing and toys. However there are other factors that can deeply influence the life of an Orphan, like love and care. That’s why Minhaj Welfare Foundation goes to much length by giving that extra bit of guidance to all the children in our care ensuring that no child is deprived of the love that would be given to them by their parents.
We teach the children basic skills such as arts, craft, physical education, spiritual and correct moral behaviour because we believe these are all basic components that a child requires to benefit him in adult life. The children will have access to school, college and University and we will train them to become professionals in their own rights so they can take their place as rightful members of society. MWF can only reach these goals with the help of your generous donations.
In 2008, MWF identified an ideal local location as the site for a new purpose built Orphan Care Home with integral school. Almost 3 years on “AGHOSH” is almost ready to house more than 500 Orphans who lost their parents from the Pakistan Floods in 2010. MWF will ensure that they are well clothed and educated to the highest standard so they can learn how to benefit society. Our fully trained staff and volunteers will provide absolute love and care for these children in a family orientated environment ensuring the children enjoy life to the full.
Please help provide a prosperous future for those children Orphaned due to disasters.
